Puzzle Board Size

So not too long ago (last week in fact) the puzzle boards were a fixed ratio for desktop and mobile. I hadn’t been happy with the mobile one for a while, and I’m still not there with that. In any case, I was trying to get some collections in place for when we finally go live so if anyone actually plays this thing they can have a few collections of puzzles to play with and I thought I would do some of famous artists, which might not make great puzzles but are great pictures.

Van Gogh was the first one I chose, and once I realized high resolution versions of these images were available and how I had to crop them to fit in the puzzle board it didn’t quite feel right. So then I thought we could try to keep the original ratio of these paintings, it felt like butchering works of art to cut them off. So I’ve spent a while trying to see if we could make this fit.

Happily I’ve been working on an auto-orientate feature which made this possible and I am much happier, seeing this higher resolution images of van Gogh’s paintings in their original ratio’s. And with van Gogh’s paintings when you zoom in to place pieces you can really see the detail. Most people probably won’t notice or care, but it pleases me!
